Letter (informal): Using a poster on developing writing skills, write to a friend who finds English composition difficult, and advise them.
I remember you mentioning that essay-writing feels difficult for you, so I picked up a few tips from a workshop poster at our school that I think will help.
First, jot down 3-4 points before you start writing — don’t try to think and write at the same time. Second, keep your sentences short in the first draft; you can join them later. And third, read your paragraph aloud once you’re done — you’ll hear the mistakes your eyes miss.
I used to struggle the same way, and honestly, just writing one paragraph a day for a month made the biggest difference. Try it and let me know how it goes.
Your friend,
Aditi
News report: Write a news report on Yoga Day celebrations at a school, with a headline, dateline and introduction.
Parli Vaijnath, 21 June — Over 300 students and teachers of New High School gathered on the school ground at 7 am today to mark International Yoga Day.
A trained yoga instructor led the students through basic asanas and breathing exercises, explaining the health benefits of each. The Principal, addressing the gathering, urged students to make yoga a daily habit rather than a once-a-year event.
The event closed with a short session on stress-relief techniques ahead of the upcoming exams, which students said they found especially useful.
Exam Tips for This Pattern
Reported speech and passive voice both appeared this year, as they do most years. If you only have time to revise two grammar topics before the exam, make it these two.
These notes describe the pattern and topics of past board papers in our own words, for revision purposes. They are not copies of the official question paper or the official answer key, and the model answers are written fresh by englishresources.in, not reproduced from any answer key.
