Letter (informal): Write to your father asking permission for a school trip to a hill station, covering duration, cost, stay and places to see.

Dear Baba,

Our school has planned a three-day educational trip to Chikhaldara next month, and I would like your permission to join.

The trip costs ₹1,800 per student, which includes travel by bus, stay in a school-arranged dormitory, and all meals. We will be visiting the viewpoints, the coffee estate, and a wildlife sanctuary, along with two teachers accompanying us throughout.

I promise to follow all the rules and stay in touch by phone every evening. Please let me know your decision by Friday, since I need to submit the fee by Monday.

Your loving son,
Omkar

Speech: Deliver a speech on health and diet, using the idea ‘we are what we eat’.

Good morning friends. There’s an old saying: ‘we are what we eat.’ Today I want to explain why that’s more true than we realise.

Our body repairs and rebuilds itself every single day, using nothing but the food we give it. Junk food gives quick energy but very little to actually build with, which is why we feel tired soon after. A balanced plate — grains, vegetables, protein and fruit — keeps us alert through a full school day.

Along with food, regular exercise matters just as much: even a twenty-minute walk or a game in the evening keeps our mind sharp for studies.

So the next time you reach for a packet of chips, remember: you’re not just filling your stomach, you’re building tomorrow’s you. Thank you.

Exam Tips for This Pattern

‘The World is Mine’ has now appeared as a comprehension or appreciation poem in three of the last five years (2023, 2024, and most likely 2022) — make sure you know its theme and central idea cold.

These notes describe the pattern and topics of past board papers in our own words, for revision purposes. They are not copies of the official question paper or the official answer key, and the model answers are written fresh by englishresources.in, not reproduced from any answer key.
